From quiet retreat to radical corporeality – over the past nine years, the laureates have opened spaces that reveal social fractures, intimate narratives, and visual thresholds.

2025 promises something new. The silhouette on the current slide remains a secret - but the excitement is growing.

The vernissage is approaching. The countdown is on.  

The PORTRAITS HELLERAU residency prize offers the winners a work residency of several weeks at the Festspielhaus Hellerau. During the residency, a new photo project will be created, which will be presented in a separate exhibition the following year. The residency promotes artistic development, exchange and visibility in the international photography scene.
