Treviso Photographic Festival 2024

I will be participating at this year's Treviso Photographic Festival in Italy.

The festival will be from 5th September to 24th September 2024. The photographs will be exhibited at various sites in the city.

I will be exhibiting my Japanese Geisha photos. Come say hi if you are in town!

Xposure 2024 Guest Photographer

It's official! I am selected as a guest photographer at the 2024 Xposure event in Sharjah, UAE.

This is the world's biggest photo event held every year in Sharjah and all the biggest names in the photography world will be there. There's plenty of photography talks, competitions, portfolio reviews, workshops, and a captivating trade show featuring the latest gear and trends.

I will be exhibiting some of my favourite and  best known photo works from my 10 years at the Venice Carnevale!

The Venice Carnevale, renowned as the world's most beautiful festival, dazzles with its extravagant masked costumes donned by wonderful attendees. Beyond the masks, locals exude charm in their preference for painted faces and historical garb, adding to the festival's allure.
Masked revellers primarily hail from neighbouring countries, including France, Belgium, Austria, and Germany, contributing to Carnevale's vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere. Discover the harmonious fusion of cultures, where artistry and tradition unite in this enchanting celebration. Step into a realm of captivating wonder as this photography exhibition unveils the multifaceted beauty and allure of the Venice Carnevale.

Come join me at this very exciting photo event!

The event will run from 28th February 2024 to 5th March 2024.

Pride Photo Exhibition 2023
IMG_5187 (2).jpg

31st March 2023 to 31st January 2024

Amsterdam and various locations in the Netherlands

One of my most iconic works - Havana Queen Story forms part of the exhibits for the Pride Photo Exhibition  in the Netherlands this year.

In stark contrast with the years prior, the period following Fidel Castro’s revolution in 1959, homosexuality was prohibited in Cuba under penalty of imprisonment in forced labor camps.
Since the 1990s, discriminatory legislations have been abolished step-by-step, and the position of LGBTQIA+ minorities have become increasingly present. Nowadays, their culture is now broadly visible and celebrated, with drag shows pulling in audiences and performing to full houses. After the 2022 referendum on Cuba’s Family Law, marriage was opened to same-sex couples and they are allowed to adopt. Cuba now has one of the most progressive family laws in Latin America.

On display until the 10th of August at Westerpark, Amsterdam.

On display Akerhof, Groningen, 11th August to 31st August.

With the current covid-19 pandemic, many galleries are closed and exhibitions are over for the foreseeable future. So how are artists expected to make a living? Many have turned to selling directly via their website, while on Instagram the hugely successful Artist Support Pledge has seen an informal online marketplace spring up almost overnight.

The principle is simple: anyone can participate by uploading a work for sale under the #artistsupportpledge hashtag, with all works priced at £200. Every time artists reach £1000 of sales, they pledge to spend £200 of it on another artist’s work. Through this, an entire network of artists has formed, with the aim of alleviating some of the stress brought about by lost sales due to the pandemic. So far, over 72,000 artworks have been posted under the hashtag, and an estimated £15 million for artists and makers has been raised across the globe.  I will participate in this scheme with all  unsigned works seen on this webpage available for sale at a size of 40cm x 30cm for £200 each, inclusive of worldwide shipping. All photos printed on quality fine art paper, usually archival quality Hahnemühle and Ilford papers. If there is anything you see that you would like to purchase, please click on the button below to contact me directly and let me know which print you want to purchase.

Private Portrait Sessions:

Dzenek Karnia, Supermodel

Face for Tom Ford, Moschino and Philip Plein

I always love meeting people and listening to their stories. Captured in a Moment, Treasured for a Lifetime - Commissioned portraits are a collaborative effort between myself and my subject. This is a simple but unique experience where the portrait is created thoughtfully and intentionally. The end-product is  timeless and not confined to has-beens, hot properties and wannabes. This is supposed to be capturing a life’s story in a moment that will last for generations to come. Both now and in the years to come, our portraits will be a testament to Who You Are. My goal is to present this, in  fine art prints that will become statement pieces of art, topics of conversation and will stir the excitement and passion every time you look at them.
Each print is unique and printed on the finest archival papers.  For model portfolios and personal stylised portrait sittings, my rates start from USD$350 an hour and USD$250 per image.  I do accept international commissions, (in fact, most of my commissions are overseas projects). And if you like, we can book the most exotic photo locations around the world for your portraits - I am talking about locations where people like Madonna, Rihanna and Obama use for their portraits...Naturally, bookings may need to be made a few months in advance. Collaborations with artistes and celebrities are most welcome. TFP arrangements still possible for selected budding artistes - I understand, we all have to start somewhere...Click on the Contact Me button  and drop me a message to  have a chat about how I can create image solutions for your project.

Photo Tours / Workshops :

I enjoy assisting and teaching in photo workshops and tours as much as I enjoy going to other professional photographers' workshops. These are truly wonderful opportunities for great photos.  All of my travel destinations and workshops are carefully researched adventure elopement shoots, often timed with local festivals and away from the usual tourist crowds. The aim is to set a stage in the most far flung and exotic places, stimulating and full of discovery. We want to document in our photos, a concert of new life rich in the most unexpected events and drama. All my Travel Photos are very different from that of most other workshops. I cater mainly to high-end photographic enthusiasts who want to invest their precious time and resources seeking for the best photos behind their cameras. For all my Travel tours/ workshops, I have been to all these places many times as a photographer, so I know all the best places, restaurants, hotels and shopping places. I have been to Venice 8 times, Havana 2 times, Bhutan 2 times, Indonesia 6 times, Cambodia 12 times, and Japan 26 times.

Every year, I get requests from tour companies and photographers to run or co-lead photo tours. Here are a couple of upcoming ones...

Venice Carnevale Photo Workshop 2024

I will be at the Venice Carnevale  1st February to 14th February 2024. Unfortunately, due to my extremely hectic photo schedules, I will only be available for private sessions during the Venice Carnevale. These are basically one-on-one photo lessons with me and/ or my team if I am doing the Venetian Movie Series. I will be photographing masked costumers, local Italian costumers without masks at the best locations that bring out the best in these costumes. Gondola rides are possible. Rates will be charged at a daily basis.  You will get  more unique photos, a better time and much more of your money and time's worth than the normal run of the mill mass photo workshops. The above 3 photos are just some examples of my work for 2020's Carnevale photos, very different from those offered by other workshops. I mix traditional and unconventional methods to produce wild creations at the world's most beautiful festival. Please  contact me privately for private shoots and photo lessons.

Kyoto Private Sessions

One on one private photo sessions in Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan with real Geishas. There will be wonderful photo opportunities but strict rules  do apply within certain places. No tripods, and no flash, reflectors or any additional lighting allowed within temple interiors. This is the real thing, not Asian tourists dressed in  cheap polyester kimonos or Henshin Maikos. Available all year round except blackout dates of 27 December to 8th January.

Cambodia Private Sessions

Ancient temples, saffron monks, Apsara dancers, Bokator boxers and friendly locals at the countryside filled with lush paddy fields and pretty lotus ponds. Siem Reap, Cambodia is a paradise for travel photographers.  No fixed dates, by private arrangements only. Available all year round.

For this tour, instructors are able to converse in English and Chinese.
