The Hobbiton Movie Set, located on a 1,250-acre working sheep farm in Matamata, New Zealand, is the permanent, lushly detailed filming location for the Shire in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. Visitors can tour 44 unique Hobbit Holes, including Bag End, the Green Dragon Inn, and the Party Tree.  The set features meticulously maintained, immersive details like functional gardens, smoking chimneys, and intricate, thematic mailboxes.
