World Masterpiece Theater 世界名作劇場

Finally here!

This is my long-awaited photo book on the Venice Carnevale.

A portfolio of street portraits and imagery from my time at the Venice Carnevale over the past 10 years. This is my first and biggest, longstanding photo project. This is the series that has been a finalist at HIPA - Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashin Al Matoum International Photography Award 2023 (deemed the world's most prestigious photo contest) and exhibited at Xposure 2024 - the world's biggest photo festival.

The Venice Carnevale, renowned as the world's most beautiful festival, dazzles with its extravagant masked costumes donned by wonderful attendees. Beyond the masks, locals exude charm in their preference for painted faces and historical garb, adding to the festival's allure.

Masked revellers primarily hail from neighbouring countries, including France, Belgium, Austria, and Germany, contributing to Carnevale's vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere. Discover the harmonious fusion of cultures, where artistry and tradition unite in this enchanting celebration. Step into a realm of captivating wonder as this photography project unveils the multifaceted beauty and allure of the Venice Carnevale.

During Carnevale, the whole Venice truly becomes a real life theatrical stage, and many of these costumes carry deep perspectives...

Every costume is a masterpiece, the costumer’s hard labour of love and creativity, so I call it “World Masterpiece Theater”….

The book comes in 2 different covers.

Both hardcover versions are printed on superfine eggshell paper. 240 pages altogether, the book contains all my most classic and best known works on the Venice Carnevale as well as quite a few new ones from 2024.

The Leone di Venezia hard cover version is exclusively available at Amazon.com.

The Leone di Venezia eBook/ PDF version is available on Blurb bookstore.

The Monochrome cover is the version available on Blurb bookstore.

"It's a stunning work.  It must have taken you a long, long time to put this together. Both the text and the images are top notch. Congratulations!" - Jim Zuckerman

"I flip through its porous pages and it almost feels like touching the fabric of the dresses.

Lights, Shadows, Colors and Clear. Many of us are locked up inside it. Everyone with their own poetry, each seen with the sensitivity of a very special photographer.

I wonder how he chose. Huge work, in which I'm grateful to have been included.

It's always a victory to think that what you think and accomplish in a small room of your house can become material to produce emotions.

Because in the end that's what drives us all, masks, photographers and spectators. DREAMING." - Anna Marconi
