La Bottega dei Sogni (translated as The Shop of Dreams) is an Italian group of costumers and performance artists well-known at the Venice Carnevale.
They have been in existence since 1983 and have costumes to fit 50 different themes.
The costumes and masks designed and created by Deborah Nania and Roberto Pegoraro were born from the passion for the ancient charm of the Venice Carnival and have attracted the attention of photographers from all over the world over the course of over twenty years.
The costumes have appeared in many magazines, books and videos around the world; their images are marketed in postcards, posters, calendars and various gadgets.
The charm of these masks could not, however, remain limited to the mystery of Venetian streets and squares, so much so that they were invited several times to participate in national and foreign events which opened up new horizons for the valorization of their scenic presence.
In 1994 a theatrical agent, realizing their great visual impact, chose them to represent Southern Europe in Japan at the World Festival Exposition of Mie (Osaka).
That experience led to the birth, the following year, of the cultural association “La Bottega dei Sogni” which created “Rêves”, a parade-show in which masked characters interpret musical pieces with dance and intriguing mimicry. of undoubted suggestion.
The use of natural scenarios (castles, villas, parks, etc.) and particular plays of light make the atmosphere absolutely magical.
The result is a feast for the eyes that can stimulate anyone's imagination and desire to dream.
I am friends with Deborah and Roberto for quite a few years now and each time we meet in Venice, we do a walk around town together with the costumers for some portraits together.
I suppose the theme for this year's costumes is the Sun, the Moon and the Stars...The Magic of the Star Moon Night...
A night where heaven and earth merge, enveloped in magical beauty.
Our hearts are filled with joy...
In this vast world, we weave our stories day by day,
Shining like the stars...
The photos are actually done on the quiet streets of Venice at first light, a time when the sun, the moon, the stars and the planets are most likely to meet...
Like stars gleaming with gold, may our lives shine brightly.
Like the gentle smile of the crescent moon, may happiness always be by our side...
