This is another ultra fun costume concept by my Italian friends at the Venice Carnevale - Photo Tamers!

They got their inspiration from costumes and concept of Lion Tamers.

A lion tamer, or lion trainer, is someone who trains and manages lions, often for entertainment purposes like in circuses or zoos. They use techniques like positive reinforcement and repetition to encourage desired behaviors in the animals. They are responsible for the daily care and handling of lions, including feeding, medical procedures, and ensuring the lions' well-being.

In circuses, lion tamers often perform with lions, showcasing their skills and the animals' abilities. Lion taming is a dangerous profession, and tamers must be highly skilled and experienced to ensure their own safety and the safety of the animals. Lion taming has a long history in circuses, with performances dating back centuries.

In the 19th century, the idea of "lion queens" (female lion tamers) gained popularity, adding a new dimension to the spectacle.

So, here we have, Tellarini and Ilenia as Victorian styled female lion tamers, except they are here to tame photographers rather than lions at the Venice Carnevale. Armed with whips and a loudspeaker, they are here to whip naughty photographers into obedience!

The Venice Carnevale is not solely about masks. Local Italians and an increasing number of foreign costumers now prefer historical costumes or painted faces. During Carnevale, the whole Venice becomes a real life theatrical stage, and many of these historical costumes carry deep perspectives...

And as usual, the portraits are just done on the busy streets of Venice and using natural lighting only...It is not an indoor photo studio, there is no artificial lighting, flash or reflectors...With my costumed friends, we just take our street portraiture to an all new level....
